Enhancing Safety with Plug and Socket Lock-Out Devices
12/03/2025
Compliance with regulations is crucial when managing temporary electrical systems, especially under BS7909. An example of this is regulation 5.8.1 which highlights that if a temporary electrical system is left unattended, the responsible person should decide whether to isolate the supply and secure the system against unauthorised use. The system should also be re-checked to ensure safety before re-energising.
To help meet these safety requirements, we offer a range of industrial plug and socket lock-out devices designed to prevent unauthorised usage.
Plug Lock-Out Devices
Our plug lock-out devices are a simple and effective solution. They are designed to fit plugs ranging from 16A to 125A in both single and three-phase systems. The lock-out clips securely to the end of the plug and can be padlocked in place, preventing it from being used without authorisation. All you need is a padlock to secure the device.
Socket Lock-Out Devices
For sockets, we offer lock-out devices sized to suit different socket apertures within the same range. These lock-outs are inserted directly into the socket and then padlocked in place, preventing unauthorised use. Due to the varying sizes, it's important to choose the correct lock shackle to suit the socket, which we also supply.
Additional Safety Accessories
To complement our lock-out devices, we provide a range of padlocks and labels. Each label clearly states "Do Not Operate" and includes the name of the authorised person who can reinstate the plug or socket. This helps maintain clear communication and accountability on-site.
Our lock-out solutions offer a straightforward and effective way to comply with safety regulations while reducing the risk of unauthorised usage of electrical systems.
