IP55, 10kVA, Refinery Transformer Project

After being approached by a large refinery we have implemented a project involving the supply of 50 10kVA 3Phase Power Transformers. This case study outlines the specifications and features of these transformers, emphasising their design, functionality, and safety measures.
Transformer Enclosure Design:
The transformers are housed in durable Zintec Steel enclosures, specially designed with forklift pockets and lifting eyes for easy transportation and positioning on site. The enclosure boasts an impressive Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP55, ensuring robust protection against dust and water ingress. The sockets, featuring an IP67 rating, add an extra layer of protection against water immersion.
Aesthetics and Durability:
To enhance visibility and aesthetics, the enclosure is finished with a Polyester Powder Coated 08 E 51 yellow gloss. This not only provides a vibrant appearance but also contributes to the overall durability of the transformers, making them suitable for various environmental conditions.
Transformer Specifications:
The transformers are rated at 10kVA and are continuously rated, providing a reliable power source for demanding applications on construction sites. The primary input is designed for 400V 3-phase delta configuration, while the secondary output is configured for 110V 3-phase star connection.
Electrical Safety Features:
The primary input is equipped with a 16A Triple Pole Type D MCB, adding a layer of protection against overcurrents. To enhance safety and facilitate quick identification, three Red supply indicators are fitted alongside the MCB.
Outgoing Sockets:
The outgoing section includes four 110V 16A 2P+E IP67 sockets, each protected by a 16A 30mA Type A RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent Protection). Additionally, two 110V 32A 2P+E IP67 sockets are provided, each with a 32A 30mA Type A RCBO. These RCBOs are equivalent to a combination of MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and RCD (Residual Current Device), ensuring a comprehensive protection system for connected equipment and personnel.
