Land Ahoy! KES spotted at the Marina
29/06/2023
You might know KES as land lovers (and we are). However, you might not know that we work in the Marine Industry.
Since our creation, KES has been involved in many dockside projects. Whether it be dock-side services or onboard fire alarm systems. We are always on hand to solve any issue with our bespoke solutions.
Recently we have found ourselves at the seafront a lot. We often receive comments from customers or marine specialists who don’t realise that we help power this sector too! Marine electrical supplies are, in many ways, no different to the power needed for outdoor events or on film and tv locations. Of course, there are some big considerations though - electricity and water, to name just one!
To help understand the marine electrical projects KES can help with, we have compiled a list of some recent onshore and dock-side work.
Custom (very) large leads
Our client came to us looking for a solution to their cabling needs. We supplied them with several 240mm single cord shore cables with connection lugs in 60m and 80m lengths.
Every cable was colour-coordinated to the client's specific organisation system. Each custom cable had heat shrink added for the client to affix their custom logos securely. Amazingly, each drum weighed around a whopping 230 kg!
Bespoke security mesh cage
This client was looking for a secure solution suitable for protecting their equipment against unauthorised access at the Navy Docks.
We brought out the big guns (metaphorically speaking - we’ll leave the actual weaponry to the Naval Forces experts). We built from scratch a 3mm box steel and diamond louvred powder-coated steel mesh cage.
At KES, we are known for our bespoke electrical solutions. However, since we build the majority of our solutions from scratch, our team often work with metal, including metal manipulation, welding equipment and knowledge of the fabrication process.
Hands up if you knew that the KES team have amazing metal fabrication skills!
Marina link box
Equipment on marinas needs to be efficient and capable of keeping up with the demands of the sea, and the often challenging coastal weather.
Our design team worked with this client to create a custom built cable link box and large transformers. All of our solutions are created with safety and location in mind, especially mindful that electricity and the sea mean extra precautions.
Did you see us?
Recently we attended the Seawork Show in Southampton to visit some of clients who helped set-up and power the exhibition. As Europe’s leading commercial marine exhibition, it was great to see KES products in action at Seawork.
